MANCHESTER — It’s like a “Saturday Night Live” skit: Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jennifer “JWoww” Farley are dropped into the middle of a community where the average age is more than 65. But it’s no skit. Any day now, the “Jersey Shore” duo are set to start filming the second season of their MTV reality show, “Snooki & JWoww,” at a home on Johnson Avenue. “It seems like a weird combination,’’ said Pat Mercready, 70, as she sat down for a bite to eat at the Crestwood Family Restaurant, which is surrounded by adult communities and a hub for seniors out for food and conversation. “Why would they want to come here? They should have gone to Connecticut or some other place.’’ “Here” — a township widely known for 22 adult communities and one of the highest average ages in the country — is a far cry from Miami, Seaside Heights and Jersey City, where the pair starred in earlier reality shows. Gone are the hustle and bustle, replaced by a community more focused on where to get the best early-bird dinner special than the best place to party. “All of the cars are off the road by 7 p.m.,’’ Mercready said, smiling. “You come out at 2 p.m. and the traffic is terrible. I don’t know what they are going to do here.’’ On Wednesday, there was no sign of Snooki and JWoww at the upscale home where the show will tape, just various contractors adding finishing touches. The house sits on 2½ acres and features four bedrooms, 4½ baths and two master bedrooms, according to Zillow.com, a real estate website. The property is valued at $521,089. It is less than a mile to the nearest senior housing development. Polizzi, 24, and Farley, 26, reached fame on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” series, which depicted the partying and hard drinking lives of Polizzi, Farley, two other women and four men living in the same house in Seaside Heights. Polizzi and her fiancé, who live in East Hanover, are expecting their first child in about a month. “I have no objections to them being here,’’ said Joe Hansin, 70, of the Whiting section of Manchester. “I don’t think that we are going to see them over here at all. I just hope that they are good neighbors to the people that live around them. It could be worse — you don’t have to worry about someone stealing your car, like in Trenton.’’ He’s never seen their shows, but Hansin is hip to the celebrities’ TV lifestyle. “They are just out there being young people,’’ Hansin said. “We have all done stuff like that when we were young. I can’t see any of that happening. They don’t pose a threat to anyone.’’ Polizzi and Farley will give up their “gym, tan, laundry” friends and, if they want to run with the local crowd, will spend lots of time at bingo tables and on bus trips to Atlantic City. Then again, Manchester could bend a little in their direction, joked Bill Ebell, 79, getting his hair cut at Jimmy C’s Barber Shop. “It’s going to bring some youth to the area,’’ Ebell said. “The stereotype has always been that Manchester is for people who are retired. Maybe this will change it.’’ Why Manchester? The producers chose it after several other communities, including Point Pleasant Beach, declined. Manchester has no rules regulating the filming of a show in a private home, said Mayor Michael Fressola. “If the show is a disaster, then the council will have an ordinance on their desk quickly,’’ Fressola said. “I don’t see a problem. If there is a problem, we are going to address it.’’

Snooki Gives Birth To A Baby Boy! 'Jersey Shore' star and fiancé Jionni LaValle welcome first child into the world. Looks like the Seaside Heights house just got its latest roomie: Nicole "Jersey Shore" star "Snooki" Polizzi has given birth to her first child, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. Snooki and her fiancé, Jionni LaValle, welcomed their baby boy into the world a little before 3 a.m. Sunday morning (August 26) at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. Early this morning, the new mommy took to Twitter to gush over her little one, writing, "I am SO IN LOVE with my son Lorenzo Dominic ! I had my little man last night, healthy at 6lbs! HE'S MY WORLD! ❤" A rep for Polizzi told MTV, "The world just got another Guido!!! Lorenzo Dominic LaValle has entered the world weighing 6lbs, 5oz. Nicole, Jionni & Enzo are doing great!" MTV shared in Snooki's excitement: "We couldn't be happier for Nicole and Jionni on the healthy delivery of their baby boy! We look forward to Lorenzo's first trip to the Jersey Shore and can't wait to see his first animal print onesie." It's the first child for the couple, who simultaneously announced their engagement and their baby news back in March. From there, the reality starlet and bride-to-be made it known that she wanted to have her baby before walking down the aisle. "I mean, I do have a dream wedding," she told MTV News in April. "But I definitely don't even want to talk about it or think about it because I'm not even ready for it yet. I just want my baby first." She also shared at the time that she had already been flipping through baby-name books to pick out just the right name for the baby. In May, Snooki found out she would be having a boy, despite secretly hoping she'd be having a girl. Though, in the end, Snooki had this message for her bundle of joy: "As long as it's healthy, I'm fine. So if you're a boy, I'll still love you, obviously." Her pregnancy was later documented on her "JS" spin-off, "Snooki & JWoww," and she joked to us that she hoped her pal would soon have a child or two, that way their kids could one day marry each other. "I want four total, so hopefully, when I have my second, she's ready to have her first, so they can either date and make an offspring together — so they can make a Snooki/JWoww baby," she said. "So, they're either gonna date or be best friends." The last few months of her pregnancy will also be featured on the next season of "Jersey Shore," which begins airing in October. And while she hung out with her crew by day, she did go back to her own place every night. "[It used to be] Nicole partying, partying, partying, but now she lived next door, so it was different," Pauly D explained. "Well, she had this porch, and then me and Vinny would kick down Snooki's porch [door] every day. We loved that porch. I was there more than my own house."

All good things must end — even “Jersey Shore” which, MTV announced Thursday, will fold up shop at the end of its upcoming sixth season. The show that saved MTV will premiere its sixth and final season on Oct. 4. “Jersey Shore” is another of those tragic TV industry stories. Unveiled to an unsuspecting public in December of 2009, The Situation, Snooki, and the rest of the gang still had so many neighborhoods to terrorize, so much binge-drinking, hooking up, and emotionally fraught fighting to accomplish. But some of the stars had become distracted with their own spin-off starring vehicles, and MTV decided to pull the plug before “Jersey Shore’s” ratings got any lower and costs got any higher. The show’s headliners are reportedly making more than $2 million each for the sixth season, which works out to about the same paycheck per episodes as the adults on “Modern Family” will get for that show’s upcoming season. The rest of the “Jersey Shore” cast make approximately what the kids on the ABC hit comedy are slated to make this coming season. But “Jersey Shore’s” ratings have slipped noticeably since the heady days when it hit 8.8 million viewers at the start of its fourth season – an MTV record. MTV tried to broaden out the show, sending the gang to terrorize Florence, Italy for that fourth season. But the cast clearly hated playing fish out of water, the locals weren’t impressed, and viewers began tuning out. Returning to Jersey for Season 5 didn’t help revive the ratings, and by that season’s penultimate episode the show’s ratings were back down to first-season levels. “Jersey Shore” continues to be cable’s No. 1 ranked series among 12-34 year olds, but here too, the ratings have takena big hit. Besides, “Jersey Shore’s” happy hedonistic days are behind it, what with Mike ”The Situation” Sorrentino now living with a sober coach and giving interviews to MTV’s Sway about the “rainy days” he’s had since struggling in rehab with his addiction to “prescription drugs,” and Snooki now a mom. Where’s the fun in all that? Thursday’s announcement marks The End of an Era, MTV said modestly. The news was unveiled Thursday to give fans time to grieve, and clear their schedules for a mess of “Jersey Shore” send-off programming, starting almost immediately after the holiday weekend. On Sept. 6, MTV will celebrate “Jersey Shore” all day long, until it takes a break to telecast the “2012 Video Music Awards.” At 11 a.m. that day, MTV will run a “Jersey Shore” marathon, featuring past episodes that should have, but did not, win awards, for Best Bromance and the like. That’ll be followed by a retrospective show, “Gym, Tanning, Look Back,” at 6, in which cast members reminisce like middle-aged folk at their high school reunion. At 7, the gang gathers for their first live interviews since MTV announced their show was kaput, from the “VMA’s” pre-show red carpet. The network threatened other things also were in store, including an after-show each week during Season 6, a “scintillating reunion special,” etc. Though the show will be gone after this coming season, it will live on in spin-offs. “Snooki & Jwoww,” which wraps its first season on Sept. 13, has already been renewed for a second season. But don’t hold your breath on “The Pauly D Project” which had a lousy opening.

Deena from 'Jersey Shore' gets 2-year ban from bar Associated Press "Jersey Shore" is over and done in Seaside Heights, but the MTV reality show is still causing aggravation for some folks here. New Jersey liquor regulators said Thursday that they have fined a Seaside Heights cantina $15,000 for serving a "visibly intoxicated" Deena Cortese just before she wandered out into traffic in June. As a condition of an agreement negotiated with Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grill, Cortese is banned from the premises for two years. According to New Jersey's Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Cortese and an entourage that included an MTV film crew were at the restaurant for 90 minutes on June 10. During that time, Cortese walked on the bar, fell to the ground, then climbed up and stood on a red bench at a table of restaurant patrons. Cortese also left the premises with an alcoholic beverage _ a big no-no in New Jersey _ walked onto the boardwalk and returned to the bar a short time later. "This settlement is a cautionary tale for licensees who might think ignoring the law for the sake of air time is good for business," said Michael Halfacre, the division's director. "By turning a blind eye to the mayhem that can be associated with reality television, you are risking your livelihood. That is, without a doubt, bad for business." A woman who answered the telephone at Spicy Cantina on Thursday said no one from the business would comment on the settlement. MTV recently announced that "Jersey Shore" will conclude after its upcoming sixth season, which begins Oct. 4. The series features a cast of over-tanned, over-loud and always pumped-up characters who tried the patience of local residents with their party-hearty antics. The show strayed from Jersey during its run, taking the cast to Miami Beach and Italy. Cortese, 25, was arrested by Seaside Heights police for disorderly conduct. According to police reports, Cortese was observed running out of Spicy Cantina and into the street. She began dancing in the intersection and appeared to be intoxicated after losing her balance several times, the alcohol division said. Cortese then walked down a street, grabbed the trunk of a car and continued to dance. Seaside Heights Police said her behavior was seriously restricting the flow of the traffic and then placed her under arrest. Afterward, state officials said, Cortese told police she had been drinking throughout the day. At a municipal court appearance a month later, she pleaded guilty to failing to use the sidewalk and paid a $106 fine. (Her plea came in the same courtroom where "Jersey Shore" pal Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi pleaded guilty to disturbing other beachgoers in 2010.) Cortese apologized to the court, then got a talking-to from her mother. She also had to pay $33 in court costs but avoided a criminal conviction by pleading guilty to a violation of the motor vehicle code. In the settlement with the state, Spicy Cantina also admitted serving Cortese drinks she did not order, which is illegal in New Jersey. Four employees from the restaurant submitted a letter to the alcohol division explaining that Cortese was served one alcoholic drink _ a vodka and club soda _ then was deemed to be intoxicated by the bar management. According to the letter, after cutting Cortese off, "she was served several shots of water, which she thought contained alcohol. She was also served non-alcoholic drink mix with fruit garnish. She drank multiple glasses without realizing that she was not drinking alcohol." The business faces a 10-day suspension of its liquor license if it violates state alcohol laws over the next two years.

'Snookiville Law' would allow towns to control TV-reality filming By Kristen Coppock September 16, 2012 TRENTON — State legislation dubbed the “Snookiville Law” would allow municipalities to license and regulate the filming of reality TV shows. The proposed law aims to give towns the right to impose conditions in the name of public safety. Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer, R-12th of Plumsted, announced Friday his plans to introduce the legislation on Sept. 24. It is named after New York native Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, one of the most famous reality stars associated with the Garden State. She and the “Jersey Shore” cast are best known for binge drinking, fisticuffs, and run-ins with local law enforcement. In a statement, Dancer said the proposed law is designed to help local officials ensure that the attention being brought to their towns by reality shows and their stars is beneficial to residents and businesses. “The popularity of MTV’s ‘Jersey Shore’ and other reality shows can attract crowds to a community. That can be great for local businesses and a costly challenge to a town’s ability to control crowds and protect public safety,” he said. The proposed law would pave the way for municipalities to set and enforce local ordinances, such as requiring film crews to pay for additional police officers needed to ensure public safety. Dancer’s legislative district includes Chesterfield, New Hanover, North Hanover and Wrightstown in Burlington County, as well as parts of Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex counties. The bill’s introduction comes a week after the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control announced it had fined a Seaside Heights bar $15,000 for serving a “visibly intoxicated” “Jersey Shore” cast member. Deena Cortese of Plumsted also is banned from the Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grill for two years because of alcohol-related behavior that took place during filming June 10. Cortese was cited for disorderly conduct in the incident. After leaving the bar, according to police, she held up traffic by dancing in the street and grabbing a car. “Life is more than ‘gym, tanning and laundry’ to communities hosting reality TV shows,” said Dancer, quoting the famous “Jersey Shore” catchphrase. “The reality is these shows may cost taxpayers money by requiring additional services when cameras are rolling in town, and town leaders should have the option to license and regulate, if deemed necessary.” “Jersey Shore” recently completed filming its sixth and final season in Seaside Heights. Other reality shows regularly filmed in New Jersey include Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” in Franklin Lakes, TLC’s “Cake Boss” in Hoboken, and Style Network’s “Jerseylicious” in Green Brook.

Law would let NJ towns regulate reality TV ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A bill introduced on Monday would give towns where reality TV shows are being filmed more control over The Situation. (Not to mention Snooki and JWoww, too.) State Assemblyman Ronald Dancer, an Ocean County Republican, introduced the legislation for the "Snookiville" Law, which would let towns license and regulate the filming of reality television shows and impose conditions including requiring TV crews to pay for additional police officers needed to assure public safety. Dancer said in a statement that New Jersey has a tradition of being a desirable setting for reality shows such as The Situation, Snooki and JWoww's "Jersey Shore," "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" and "Cake Boss." "These shows can attract crowds, which can benefit local businesses and challenge a community's resources," said Dancer, whose district includes parts of Ocean, Burlington, Middlesex and Monmouth counties. "This bill will permit local officials to make sure taxpayers don't get 'Snook'-ered or public safety is compromised when reality stars such as Snooki or J-Woww come to town." Dancer named the law after Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, the most famous cast member of MTV's "Jersey Shore," which recently ended its three-year run in Seaside Heights, 20 miles east of Dancer's district. During the cast's time in Seaside Heights, cast members were involved in scuffles and drunken behavior in public, and police officers routinely were assigned to areas where they were taping. But the borough made its own arrangements with the show's producers to cover those costs. The final season of "Jersey Shore" will begin airing on Oct. 4. Snooki and co-star Jennifer "JWoww" Farley have been filming a spinoff series in Manchester, a few miles inland from Seaside Heights. Authorities there have reported no problems with the filming. An MTV spokesman had no immediate comment on the bill's introduction.

A lot of silly-ass laws and regulations for a show that's already filmed it's last season. Seaside Heights has never been more popular and the completely ficticious horror and heartache that poor town had to endure while that show brought in millions of tourist dollars and worldwide recognition is negligible. The show was great and ran it's course. The shore resorts of New Jersey have been advertised for years to the world. I see nothing but good to have come from "Jersey Shore". Stop yer cryin'.
