CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED!!!

with only 28 days left til christmas, i have decided to cancel christmas this year, at least here around my home. i just don't have the time it takes to perpare for this annual holiday. besides, it feels like it was just last week i took down and stored the decorations from last year. where did the time go?? this is unreal!! time keeps on slipping...or am i the one who's slipping?? this year, i never got to put out all my patio furniture and other assorted summertime things. right now, the stuff i did manage to put out is still out. i almost didn't get any halloween decorations put up...until the last minute that is. i still have some halloween things up...although all the bigger peices are all put away. once i took down the halloween crap, i put out some thanksgiving stuff. got them down yesterday when i came home from work...they are sitting in the basement...cleaned and waiting to be put away. and now...christmas is right around the corner. sometime between now and janurary 1st, i need to finish painting (should take 1 good day), do leaf clean-ups for customers, trim shrubs, put summer shit away, winterize landscaping equiptment, change oil in car (i do that myself), decorate outside for holiday (normally takes 2 full days), put up tree and trim, decorate inside of home, shop for christmas (I fucking hate to shop), go to work at crappy full time job, and i know i forgot a few things from this list. it is a race against time...and i fear i have already lost this race. i vote we move christmas to janurary 25...cuz if we did, i am almost sure i could or might be caught up by then.

If I had a whole house to decorate, I might just cancel Christmas too! Here it is 11:56 and Im still not done putting decorations up (started at 3pm, didnt even stop for dinner...) You would think living in a small apartment it would be a fast and easy thing to put up some holiday stuff, but noooooo! It seems like Summer was just yesterday, and we're already past Halloween and Thanksgiving(was able to put all THanksgiving stuff away...a miracle in itself...Sometimes I wonder if its all worth it...but then I remind myself that, "for all the work involved, you dont want to have the stuff up for only a few days so you better do it now!" Ugh....

I've been working on the (fake) tree for three days so far. My forearms are all scratched up from the plastic pine needles!

UPDATE: christmas is still cancelled and the clock is ticking. with 3 weeks left, time is running out. still haven't gotten much done. been working 5 days a week at the full time job. i think my painting projects are over for this year...it's too cold to paint anyway. did manage to get 2 leaf clean-ups done. atleast one of them is a final clean-up that still leaves 10 more to do before janurary 1st. haven't done any outside decorating yet...thats a 2 day job....and still got no time to do it anyway. tree isn't up either. all the halloween and thanksgiving shit is done (finally) and put away...did that yesterday. haven't done any shopping. don't have any motivation...certainly don't have the time either. and on top of all that, i got to go back to my doctor tomorrow. this inflammatory arthritis or gout or whatever i got, is not improving. if anything, it is getting worse and the pills i have don't work anymore. hopefully, i might get some stronger pills that might actually work. and maybe, if my luck turns (unlikely), i might just get everything i need to do done in a nick of time...stay tuned.

LATEST UPDATE: it is now december 23, 2010 and time is quickly running out...but some progress is slowly being made. starting with the weekend of december 11, i was off from the full time job for 2 days in a row. the weather was supposed to be bad on sunday, but the weather for saturday turned out to be surprisingly nice. i made the decision that if i was going to do any outside decorating, (the outside takes the most amount of time and is the most complicated) saturday was the day to do it. with that thought in mind, i set out to decorate. i made the decision that i would do ONLY as much as i could in 1 day and anything i didn't finished THAT day would not get done this year. i started early in the morning, crused my ass off all day (stupid fucking lights made in china) (see my rant from last year, you'll know what i mean), and finished around 10:30pm that evening. i got more done than i thought i would, but when i put my mind to it (even though my body says "fuck it"), i do get things done. by sunday moring, i only had about 2 hours more decorating to do but i thought i could finish that work during the week after i come home from work. so i went and did a final leaf clean-up for a customer. glad i did that job...there was a ton of leaves to clean up and what a pile it all made. 1 final clean-up was now complete for the year...thank you JESUS for your support. the full time job is nuts and they run me ragged. by the time i get home from work, my ass is dragging and i never seen to have the time or strenght to do any thing more than my normal routine. so the decorating i wanted to do during the week never got done. but i did go out and mange to do some christmas shopping. picked up christmas cards, birthday cards, and several other gifts. least i got something done. on firday december 17th, i went to a christmas party held by my township public works department (an employer i worked for as a seasonal temp for 6 years), had a great time, got nice and drunk, and really enjoyed myself with those great people (i love those guys). the next weekend (december 18th & 19th), i again had both days off. on sat, i woke with a hangover...MAN, did i wake up with a hangover!! i knew i had a ton of shit to do but in the state i was in.......ain't nothing gettin' done today. decorating...fuck it...other leaf clean-ups...fuck it...christmas shopping....fuck no....putting up the tree...yeah right. as the day dragged on and my hangover lessened, i decided i didn't want to waste the whole day by doing nothing, so i went out to organize the shed, took about 30-45 minutes but i got everything rearranged and i even got all the outdoor patio shit safely stored for winter. i was feeling better by that point so i decided to finished up my outside decorating which took about 3 hours. while i was working on some lights and fixing some other lights and strings that had gone out already (yeah, less than a week and i had lights bulbs and half strings blow out), 1 of my lawn cusmoters pulled up and asked when i was going to do her leaves. they were calling for bad weather on sunday, so i was unable to give her a definite answer....i just told her she's next on my list. sunday was supposed to be snowy and crappy but it turned out nice, almost wind-free, and sunny, so i did her leaves and the i did another customer who lives right next to my customer. since i have 2 customers who live side by side and there is no fence between their yards, the job was a snap. 12 traps of leaves and a pile about 60 feet long and 3 feet high, it was a big job. add 2 more final clean-ups completed to the list. and i did manage to go out and pick up 1 christmas gift for my parents. 1 less thing to worry about. back to work on monday and yet another week in the depths of hell...man do i ever need a vacation...i am very surprised i haven't shot and killed anyone yet (the year isn't over with yet). monday the 20th, i came home from work and put up the tree and strung the light...what the fuck...the tree is leaning...i am done for the night. tuesday the 21st, straightened tree, played with and adjust the light, and finished trimming the tree. the tree is now complete and ready for christmas. wednesday the 22nd, picked up my order of gifts i give to my lawn service customers, and had to run another quick errand. thrusday the 23rd, i had to run to acme to pick up some last minute things and i also went to petco for some christmas dog treats for my 2 babies. time is running out... MY HEALTH: right hand is still bothering me (hurts like hell)...might have to go back to doctor. stress level is through the roof. mentally and phsyically exhausted. enjoyment of the holiday season...0% MY DECORATING: outside done...took 2 weekends but it's done. tree done...3 days before christmas...latest i've ever been. inside decorating...not done...not getting done...maybe next year. MY PREPERATION OF CHRISTMAS: all the shopping is done...as of last sunday the 19th. everything is wrapped...as of sunday the 19th. small gifts for my dogs...done. food shopping...done. baking and other holiday cooking...not done and might not get done. MY FULL TIME JOB: is killing me...so i will kill them...one and all...die fuckers and have a nice day!! MY LAWN SERVICE: got most of the equipment winterized. got about half the final leaf clean-ups done. got all the bulk clean-ups done. i usually do 2 clean-ups per customer per year...1 bulk clean-up in november and 1 final in december. still need to do my final clean-up done at my house. still got about half my final clean-ups to do...might not get done this year. did get 1 last shrub trimming job done on my shrubs and 1 other custmoer who requested a trimming. MY CAR: is driving me nuts. still needs brakes. needs an oil change. air bags module still needs replacing. still have same old problems (listed in another rant). NEW PROBLEMS: exhaust leak...just stared last week. no heat...that could be a problem in winter. SO, thats where i am right now...if i had another week, i would be ready...but since i don't...MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT...CHRISTMAS IS BACK ON FOR THIS YEAR. next year, i am taking a weeks vacation right after thanksgiving...OR better yet, lets push christmas to janurary 25. we all could use a little more time.

the one and only thing i truely like about this time of year is knowing there is nothing i have to do. that feeling you get when you wake up on your day off from work and you know there is nothing that really needs to be done or nothing has to be done. you are free to do anything you want or do nothing at all. it kinda reminds me of summer break from school...nothing to do but hang with friends, go exploring, get into trouble, no worries, life ahead of you...you know, the good old days. but this time of year is my slow season...nothing i can do outside, nothing i really have to do but relax. it sucks that it snows this time of year. the only thing i have to do is clear the snow after it falls and you all know how i feel about snow. i feel a rant needing to be typed. so here goes...it's been a busy, long month...lasting way too long. ever notice how summer goes by sooo fast that by the time the 4th of july rolls around summer is over with. janurary is way too long...these past 31 days seem like 31 months...not 31 days. and even though i didn't have anything to do there are still alot of things that need to be taken care of. sorry about that...my mind was wondering off topic again. anyhoo...its been a busy month around here. somehow i managed to get through the christmas season...again. honest to God, i don't know how i managed it. usually between christmas and the first of the year, i can feel the pressure drop off. once the 1st has past, its now on to the next project...taking down all the christmas decorations. as a general rule, i like to leave up the outside stuff until that first weekend after the 1st. if the 1st falls on a weekend, then everything stays up until the next weekend. so this year, on the first weekend after the 1st, when i got up saturday morning, it was unseasonablely warm. they said it was damn close to 50 degrees that day. they were also calling for now that very next week. i decided to take down some of the outside stuff...mostly the free-standing, easily snow buried thingsb ut i left the stuff that was tired to the house up for another week. after i got about half the decorations down (got down all i wanted to get down), it was geting alittle cloudy but it was still warm and i had a few other things i wanted to do. one big project was changing the oil in the car...long over due that was. sweet...fresh oil, topped off all the other fuilds, and the car is ready for winter...or is it? fucking car...i gonna shoot you one day. i did all i could for that car...the rest needs to be done by a mechanic. she developed an exhaust leak in the second week of december. my guess was that a doughnut gasket cracked. 3 weeks after the exhaust leak started, the check engine light came on. OH, did you tell you the car has no heat?? yep...the car has no heat. i put a new water pump and radiator hoses on in july of '09 and in july of '10 i put a new radiator in and now the car is without heat. i have no idea when the heat failed...could have stopped back in november...i really dont know. all i do know is it's now mid-winter and no heat. ok, so i decide that i will not take the car in for a no heat problem...let me try something first...i gonna install a new thermostat. so o go and buy a thermostat and gaskest for $35.00...all i gotta do now is install it when i get the chance. on sunday january 16, it was colder than a witch's tit and thats the day i finally get around to put in the thermostat. holy fuck, its cold out here. but, i got it done and i started the car and after about 5 minutes, i had heat!! road test time...for like 45 minutes...damn it's hot in this car. after 4 days of driving to and from work, the check engine light went out...all by itself. ok...read the check list: oil change................DONE fix heat....................DONE check engine light....DONE exhaust leak..........still leaking brakes....................still squealing....bearly working front end.................wobbling....that can't be good air bag light.............still on...air bags will not deploy when light is on. time to make an appointment. the brakes were dangerous....and thats no joke. so i make the appointment for tuesday the 24. drop the car off the night before, they call me around 10:30 on tuesday morning, tell me whats wrong, and i tell them what to fix. they said they will try to have the work done that day...i sure hope so...another fucking snow storm is coming. i didnt think the cat would be done that day so i wasnt pissed when they never called me. had to work 2nd shift wednesday night so there was no chance of getting the car that day. i finally had to call them on thursay and the car was done. i picked it up thrusady night after work. and now for the bill... replace both front rotors and pads and replace rear pads....$410.64 replace blown out exhaust gasket.......$142.22 note: flanges on Y- pipe and convertors are rotted replace fuel filter that had rotted off the car.....$62.96 diagnostic change on front end..........$89.95 vechile needs 4 new tires.....customer refused at this time also found dead stop in engine started...needs to be replace...customer refused at this time. total on parts.....$302.92 total on labor......$402.85 total tax..............$49.42 TOTAL..................$755.19 is it time for a new car yet?? and there still is a small list of other things the car needs. now all i have to do is pay this. i take cash, checks, or cash...you can send it to:

Holy shit dude, they raped your ass on those brakes/rotors. I have a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis and I checked everything out before inspection-time. I got two brand new rotors for $50 and four disc pads for $80. Did the work in my drieway in just under two hours. $410? Ouch.

| i will/can do most work on my own car but the one thing i never liked to touch is brakes. its the one area where i don't trust my mechanical skills. i will rewire the car, work on the engine, cooling system, replace most parts, but i don't do brakes. i know that price is alot but it is all 100% ford factory brand new parts. i took the car to a dealer and had the work done...and here's my reason: factory parts are way better than after market parts. i learned this the hard way. years ago, when my 1995 ford crown vic needed brakes, i had a local mechanic do a complete brake job on the car. that brake job lasted 18 months. the next time i needed brakes, i took the car to a ford dealer...that brake job last 4 1/2 years. i worked for a new car dealership from november of 1995 til may of 2005. i spent 5 years working in the parts department. i heard countless horror stories but work that was done on peoples cars that was never quite right. i am not defending dealerships cuz when it comes to cars, i trust noone. i feel that if you can buy a factory part for your car, buy that part. after market companies don't own the patends on factory parts so when they make and sell is not the same quality. this is just me, most people wouldn't agree. i simply feel safer with factory parts. on monday, i just put 4 brand new tires on the car...$397.00. the car rides much better now. it no longer wobbles like it did. nice to have my smooth ride back. i almost feel safe driving again. think its time to take the old girl on a trip to north jersey. on Feb 1st, 2011, 8:55pm, CreepyOldGuy wrote:| I have a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis |
