Glad you like it!  Cheesy

This is from the roof of the Spring Garden Elementary School (North Philly) of low cloud formations over the city.

The Kirkbride Insane Asylum in West Philly (the first one!), built in 1841.

The Warwick, Rittenhouse Square, Center City, Philly.

A direct upwards look at an abandoned church's tin ceiling, near Girard College in Northwest philly.

Not 30 seconds after that tin-ceiling shot was taken, the Philadelphia Police escorted my friend and I out of the church. When our names came through clean, they let us go after a stern lecture about how bad the neighborhood is for us dumb crackers!

The parking lot is the closest you can get to the Philly Kirk. One of the wings is a fully active criminal rehab, another part is dedicated to psychotic teens, and there's cameras everywhere. If you're there longer than ten minutes, someone will materialize and ask you to leave.

Trenton Psych was the first built based on the "Kirkbride Plan" in 1847, but Thomas Kirkbride himself had been working from West Philadelphia's Hospital for the Insane since 1840. His basic plan was expanded upon by other architects and incorporated into their building styles while still holding true to Kirkbride's actual layout and planning of the structures.
In 1854, he presented the plans for his very own asylum, designed and run by himself COMPLETELY.
It was finished in 1859 and was the first, and ONLY insane asylum directly designed and run by Kirkbride himself, as opposed to others based on his general "plan".
That's the one that's still being used in West Philly and the one I have pictured.
Trenton holds the crown for the first Kirk-plan, but Kirk's personal, official asylum still sits here in Philly.
