In 1987, a low budget horror/slasher movie "Doom Asylum" was filmed at the sanatorium. The movie starred 1987's Penthouse Pet of the year Patty Mullen, Playboy centerfold Ruth Collins and Kristin Davis, who went on to star in Fox's Melrose Place and HBO's Sex and the City.
